My wife booked Bermuda Limousine for our wedding.
My wife needed Bermuda Limousine to take her from her grandmothers house in Sydenham to where the wedding was being held in Kingston. Then after the wedding ceremony we would take the limo with the wedding party to go get pictures taken. Bermuda was about $70 and tax included cheaper then a stretch SUV from Mccoys. We figured we would give our business to the little local guy who's web site advertising him as having honesty, integrity and sincerity in all aspect of his company and
maintains a high level of professionalism while communicating on a personal level. Wow what a mistake going with the Local little guy Kendall Mccaugherty owner of Bermuda Limousine was.
The wedding ceremony was suppose to start at 2:00pm, however the limousine did not show up until 2:30pm. I found out after the ceremony that the limo showed up half an hour late and the young lady driving the limo did not know how to get to where the wedding ceremony was being held. The maid of honour had to yell out directions from the back of the limo to the chauffeur. The chauffeur had a hard time maneuverings the limousine and was also very casually dressed for a chauffeur.
So far not that horrible. 30 minutes late, chauffeur who is very casually dressed, and does not know how to get to the wedding ceremony location. Not that horrible, but this all before Kendall Mccaugherty showed up and ran his extortion SCAM that he admitted to me, later on, that he runs quite often.
Wedding day went very smoothly, however the next day while I was cleaning up the hall I heard how some of my guests got extorted for $150 from Kendall Mccaugherty.
It turns out Kendall Mccaugherty from Bermuda Limousine showed up at the hall towards the end of dinner (5:30ish). He would go up to a guest and say that he was from Bermuda Limousine and if he was not payed $300 for the Limousine he would cause a scene. He went to six different guests, that I know of, before he was asked to go outside by one of my gusts to figure out why he was at the reception trying to get $300 from my guests.
When Kendall was outside he said he wanted $300 for cleaning the Limousine. He claimed there was mud and feces all over his floor mats in his limo. Feces??? not really sure when Kendall was trying to pull with that one. Two of my guests that he was now speaking to asked to see the limousine, but Kendall showed up in his car not the limousine he claims was trashed, Weird. Kendall insisted that one of them pay him $300 or that he was going up to the head table and causing a scene. My two guests said there was no way they where paying him $300 and that he was just pulling a scam. Kendall then
started yelling at my guests so loud that it got the attention of a couple of other guests who where smoking at the back of the building. One of my guests had to position himself in between the door and Kendall. Kendall finally said fine I will make you a deal I will take $150 to go away. WOW Kendall
Mccc really first you wanted $300 for limousine services, then $300 for cleaning the Limousine, now you want $150 to go away AND you think you are NOT a SCAM artist. At this point things are on the brink of getting physical. Kendall is yelling at two of my guests trying to push by one of them. One a man and one a woman both in there mid 50's. Kendall I think is in his late 20's. My guests are now worried that this is going to end in a physical alteration either outside at the door or when he goes running into the hall yelling and scamming trying to cause a scene. My guests reluctantly agree to give the $150 to go away FEE. My guests who both chipped in to pay him the $150 go away fee insisted that he sign a paper saying that he took $150 of theirs. Kendall did sign saying he took $150 from them.
Monday morning after the wedding I decide I'm going to call Kendall Mccaugherty and get the money he extorted from my guests back. I look up Bermuda Limousines online.
I googled Bermuda Limousine Kingston and a address shows up as 646 Norris Ct Kingston, ON K7P 2R9 (613) 561-6900. However there is nothing to do with Bermuda Limousine at that location. After doing some more google searching I found the address 4636 Ellerbeck Rd Kingston listed for Bermuda Limousine and a map. WEIRD I know he is located in Harrowsmith somewhere. 4636 Ellerbeck Rd Kingston does exist its off of King Street. (http://www.weblocal.ca/bermuda-limousine-services-kingston-on-1.html also on www.merchantcircle.ca ). I did a reverse phone look up on his number 613-561-6900. It comes up as the Norris Court Location. I went to 646 Norris Court and there was not such business as Bermuda Limousine there. I though maybe they had an office or store the limousines there, but no nothing there to do with Bermuda Limousine. I googled 4636 Ellerbeck Rd Harrowsmith, instead of Kingston, in google maps and found an address.
After doing a bunch of digging and fairly certain I have actually found the "REAL" location of Bermuda Limousine I give Kendall Mccaugherty a call. Kendall answers and I say that I was the groom from the wedding he did two days ago and I want the $150 "go away fee" that he extorted from two of guests. Kendall paused for a while and said if you would like to discuss this in person we can. I said great I will be right over to 4636 Ellerbeck Rd Harrowsmith and hung up. I did not want to give him the chance to try and send me to Norris Court or Ellerbeck Rd Kingston.
I drove to Harrowsmith. It was not hard to find where Bermuda Limousine is based out of while driving down Ellerbeck Rd. There is an old white farm house and the limousines are parked by the road in a field to the right of the house. There is a white tent that he parks one of the limousines in the other is outside in the field and then there is a Lincoln town car (I think) also parted in the field. I pull up and see Kendall Mccc parking one of the Limousines in the tent. I see an older woman and a large older man sitting on the front porch. I assume these are Kendall Mccaugherty parents. It is not the warmest day, so I assume they might be waiting for me. I decide to walk over to where Kendall is beside the house, by the tent. This way I would give him the chance to not air out his dirty laundry in front of his parents and give him a chance to set things right. I walk up and say hey are you Kendall he says yes and he tell me to come with him to the front of his house to discuss things with his business partner.
I walk with Kendall to the front of the house his business partner/Dad yells at me "HEY want to make a $150 bet". I'm confused and say ummmmm ok. Kendall's business partner/Dad yells again I bet you $150 that your guest agrees to pay the $150. We have a tape recording of him saying he will pay the $150 would you like to hear it. I say yeah sure lets hear the tape recording. As Kendall is pulling the tape recording out of his pocket his business partner/Dad goes into details about what is said on the tape. His business partner/Dad is saying a whole bunch of gibberish. The gist of it is that my guest
agreed to pay the $150. I say to him yeah I know my guest paid you the $150 that is why I'm here. I don't get what this has to do with a tape recording??? The tape recorder now gets put away and I never hear what was recorded.
Kendall and his dad go on to tell me how the limousine was trashed and that they have never seen a limousine so trashed and that limousines cost $100,000 (the Limousines are from the late 90's). Kendall shows me pictures of the Limousine floor. I do not know when these pictures where taken or if they were from my wedding party or not but the pictures Kendall showed me where a few, maybe 5, foot prints in very light mud. I said the foot prints he showed me could have been cleaned in 5 minutes with a damp cloth and those are removable floor mats take them out and shake them off. If this is such a huge deal why not have the limousine driver show up and put a mat outside the door of the limousine. This way you interior removable floor mats will stay cleaner. I asked what do you do in the winter time? They didn't response to any of my common sense thoughts. They kept taking in circles and saying they just charged a bunch of people $500 for breaking a bunch of glasses or something. Don't really know what that has to do with anything.
I finally said ok listen if this was a real issue why was it not brought up by the limousine driver. Kendall and his business partner/Dad said that I would have been "pissed off" if the limousine driver told me I could not use the limousine anymore due to muddy foot prints on the floor. That makes no sense. I would be "pissed off" if the limousine driver said I can't get in the limousine due to dirty feet, but I would not be "pissed off" with Kendall showing up to my wedding dinner trying to extort $300 from my guests?
I asked Kendall Mccaugherty if this was a real issue why was it not handled in a profession manner the next day. Kendall said he would not handle it the next day because then every thing would be done and over with and he would not get his money. He went on to say that he usually goes in and asks to see the brides father for the money. WAIT!!!!!!! WOW!!! Kendall just admitted this is a SCAM and a SCAM he has pulled off before. He admitted that it was extortion and that he has done it before.
Now I realize I'm not going to get anywhere with these 2 guys. They have admitted to me that it is a scam and that they have done it in the past. However they don't seem to have noticed or maybe care that they admitted this to me, so I say to them I'm giving you a chance to make things right give me the money back or I will be writing a review about my experience with Bermuda Limousine and advising the 2 guests who you scammed out of $150 to go to the police and file a complaint.
Well this sets Kendall Mccaugherty business partner/Dad off. He starts yelling and acting very aggressive towards me. Kendall's Dad yells you go get the police bring them hear right now. I said calmly no that is not how it works. A police report would be filed and then the police would decide if they need to look into the matter further. If this a first time complaint it will probably just get filed in there records. The business partner/dad keeps yelling you go get the police you bring them hear, as he stands up out of his chair and moves towards me. I say just give me the money back so I can give it back to my guests and I will forget this whole thing ever happened. The dad yells at me now who is trying to SCAM who. I laugh. He yells at me to get off his property. I walk to the end of the drive way and say for a business who's web sites that says that things like honesty, integrity, sincerity and that Kendall Mccaugherty maintains a high level of professionalism while communicating on a personal level you sure do not follow any of that. The business partner/Dad yells “keep going get the hell off my property”.
Stay far away from these Scammers.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the information in this blog is all to true. As my husband a friend and I were the ones who paid Kendall his “fee”. I can swear to its validity. I did not want to pay as Kendall would not allow us to see the limo, but my husband and our friend felt it was better to pay to avoid a disruption. As it was my husband missed some of the meal and we both missed the first speeches.
ReplyDeleteMy husband was told by a guest that the limo owner was upset and talking to the brides’ great uncle a gentleman in his eighties. I was unaware this was going on but noticed my husband was missing dinner. I went out back where I noticed a few people peeking around the corner at my husband out front having a discussion with Kendall. Kendall said he wanted to be paid for cleaning his limo he said there was dirt and feces all through the limo. I asked to see the limo but he said it would not be possible as the limo was on another job. Kendall lowered his demand to $150 and my friend who had followed me offered to pay saying we were missing the wedding and it wasn’t worth trying to make our point at that time. We agreed with the sentiment of course but did not want our friend to pay we did need her assistance though as we were short on the cash.
Now I have seen many pictures of the bride and bridesmaids in the limo and getting out of the limo. Her large fluffy white skirt, that was too big to fit in a car, completely pristine. Later, I looked at the bottom of her dress in person and there was not a speck on it. And the floor of the limo that can be seen as they’re getting out looks fine. It was a rainy day and the wedding was at Rideau Acres but the floor does have removable floor mats that can be seen in the pictures and in the pictures they look fine.
As an aside they used McCoy for the bachelorette, there were no negative issues and it was much more of a “limo experience” with a dressed up driver who held the door etc.
Also the limo was over a half hour late – there were many jokes as to why as we all waited for the bride to arrive and laughter as the limo arrives. It was an outdoor wedding so the guests were all seated with the minister waiting up front for well over a half hour and had full view of the limo arriving and having some difficulties manoeuvering at the campground.
Between all the videographers and photographers both amateur and professional you couldn’t hope for a better opportunity to substantiate a claim.
And as for the swindler claim we want nothing from Kendall or Bermuda Limousine. We have not further pursued the $150 Kendall extorted from us. We just hope that letting as many people as possible know our experience will make it more difficult for Kendall to do this to another family.
Sincerely,
Mary(mother of the groom)
"Honesty and integrity is the priority..." HAHAHAHA It's kind of funny you mention honesty, "MorganW"... considering you comment on blogs, and reply to reviews pretending to be a satisfied customer saying you had a "fabulous" experience. Well I would hope so since you're the owners WIFE, thus making you part owner of this horrible company.
ReplyDeleteHow are the details of this post unfounded and slanderous? Let me educate you on the purpose of a review: The purpose of a review is so that people can share their own experiences they had with a company. If they had a positive experience, they write a positive review. If it's a negative experience, they'll write a negative review. This is clearly a negative review caused by a very negative experience. If you were a company based on honesty and integrity, you would be writing to the reviewer asking how you can rectify the issue. Not throwing insults at the reviewer and accusing them of harassment and stalking. Take a business course, why don't you! While we're on the subject of your accusation of being the victim of harassment and stalking by the reviewer, I'd like to inform you that YOUR accusation is slanderous. The reason for the reviewer even mentioning your addresses is to warn people that there is something VERY shady going on with your business... when you search the business, the address is different depending on the website you're looking at. When looking up the business, it's been listed as Ellerbeck road, Kingston (No such address even exists) in other things it's listed as Norris Court, Kingston and in others - North Court, Kingston. And finally there's an Ellerbeck road, Harrowsmith. If this company is so honest, what is the purpose of having 4 different addresses associated to your business??? And it's not stalking or harassment... all 4 of these addresses have been available publicly online and that's how the reviewer obtained them... not by "stalking" you. You're simply not that important! In fact, the reviewer was INVITED to the home - He contacted the business the following Monday (Which would have been the appropriate way for Kendall to have dealt with this) Kendall then told his customer to come to his house (kind of weird - But ok). After Kendall argued with his customer, Kendall and Kendall's father told his customer to get off the property, so he DID leave, without any incident, and never contacted Kendall or the business again. He simply wrote reviews on his negative experience. How is that stalking or harassing? Get a dictionary before using words that are too big for you!
Oh and, "Morgan", your comment about trying to swindle the owner is completely off the wall. Maybe this is just another example of you using a word that you don't know the meaning to, but the reviewer isn't asking for money or ANY thing from Bermuda Limousine. He gave Kendall a chance to give the money back that Kendall scammed out of innocent guests. Kendall decided that money was more important to him than having good morals. That was the following business day after the wedding... the reviewer has not contacted Kendall or anyone from the business since then and hasn't asked for a penny since then. The review is not meant for you, it's not meant to annoy you and it's not meant to get any money from you. It's meant to share the terrible experience with others and save them from having the same nightmare on their own wedding day or special event. Hence the purpose of a review.

ReplyDeleteWell I am not related the the owner of Bermuda Limousine and have used them numerous times for birthdays, airport runs, and numeous other times over the past three years. I first used them for my wife's birthday and got their number from the yellow pages, which clearly identified their location. They have always been prompt, showing up early and always open the doors for us. Always professional. It seems the only people to leave on line reviews tend to be the negative ones. I suggest to anyone wishing to use Bermuda Limousine, that they are no a scam, Kendal and his family have been nothing but professional with us and will use him again. I recomend all my friends and family to do so. He has been in business in the local area for a large number of years, I know there are other happy clients out there as well. Carry on Kendal, I plan on using your services again in the near future!

My blog post about the extortion scam ran by Kendall Mccaugherty from a year and a half ago is getting alot of attention lately.
Seems many other people are having trouble with this "repeatable" "business".
Its a small town and word spreads quickly. Its best not to associate your self with people who run extortion scams.

Complete and utter bs kendall is a good friend and would never do this remove it or its slander I will bring this to his attention.
ReplyDeleteSlander: "a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name."
DeleteYour right about one thing though. Complete and utter bs is what you get when dealing with Bermuda Limo.
Kendall is well aware of the scam he ran almost 2 years ago. I personally went to his place of "business" to talk him and his dad face to face. This blog is getting a lot of attention lately due to others having problems with this person and his company.

DeleteTo the author of the review, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. My fiancee & I were thinking about using this limo company Until we saw this review. We have sat here and read everything including all comments. I am sure that some people have had good experiences with this company that they haven't scammed, There is no way in HELL that we would use there service's and RISK Having some ass show up at our wedding and try to pull the same crap Even if they offered us the limo for $30 for the whole day. I would rather spend $3000 dollars to have a limo service that i can trust not to screw up my wedding. For the owner shame on you. Such bad business to show up during a wedding like that. You should of waited until the fallowing day to of brought your complains to your customers AND NOT DURING THE DAM WEDDING.. Also for the limo apparently being messed up and having feces thru out the limo i find rather ridiculous If that were the case why didn't you have the limo there to show the customers the mess further more if it was a mess how is it that you had that same limo out with another client. I highly doubt that you cleaned that limo up in that fast of a time to have it out with another group considering you would still have the smell in there.
ReplyDeleteAny How author Thank you again highly appreciate the review. Sorry that all of that had to happen to you and your wife's wedding.

ReplyDeleteI think Limousine is best thing to feel luxury, but it is quit expensive. Limousine for graduation party is my first experience in a limousine, i can't forget that time..
ReplyDeleteReally great share.
ReplyDeleteThanx for sharing your experience with us.
I remember the night of my wedding, my friends got the most amazing limo for all of us. I was scared that it was going to be too small, but the limo was a perfect size for all of us. I was glad when they told me that they didn’t break the bank when they got it. Look for the best limo you can find and have a great time! Thanks for these great tips!
Choosing a limo that will complement the occasion is definitely important. Weddings usually have a consistent theme, and you don’t want your limo to break that theme. Plus, considering the type of limo you want also includes considering the size and how many people will be using the limo.

ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to read this this morning as I believe we were attempted to be captured in this type of scam too. Short version of ours was "we had damaged the door when opening it." I completely disagreed and denied the allegations. He stated he had cameras in the back and would check and I called him on it. We never heard about that again, however, I did get charged 56.50 for an additional half hour of services. I did eventually get this back too after going through my credit card services. This blows my mind and I am so glad you shared. NO BUSINESS ANYMORE and I will be sure to share your post.
Jarrie Wood - also a Sydenham resident.
I should mention that this was Bermuda Limo and Kendall as well. We also had to tell the driver where to go who said that it was his first day and was NOT dressed for the occasion. The driver was the one opening and closing the door and supposedly the one who said we damaged the door. I found out later, that he was in fact NOT a new driver at all. I think the scamming is all the way around in this company.
ReplyDeleteTo those who read....DO NOT USE or at the very least...it is at your own risk.
